I was reading an article on ESPN.com and the article discussed the idea that the World Series has been losing its shine and that this was because of the MLB's 162 game seasons. The article argued that 162 games for each team was much too long of a season, and fans got bored and stopped watching post-season baseball. However, I would have to disagree with this opinion about the 162 game season. I think that having a longer season is better in showing what teams really deserve to go into the post-season.
I also believe that the World Series could do better than it is now by other ways rather than just by shortening the regular season of baseball. For example, I have not seen very many advertisements about the MLB postseason or even the World Series. This could definitely be a cause for less viewers to watch any postseason games. Using advertisements can help to remind possible viewers that the post-season is coming up and can even attract people who don't normally watch baseball to watch the post-season because it is the best of the best play. There are many ways to increase the popularity of a World Championship, but I don't think trying to keep from boring the fans is a good way to do that.
