After 149 days the owners and players finally got to an agreement right on before for Christmas. Although it seems that everything got solved, it didn't. Although the owners and players hand shacked over the official deal there is still problems that need to be solved before the league can re-open. David Stern has marked December 9th as the official day for training camp and a free agency as well as collective bargain agreement. There are still questions to be answered, but the main question that the NBA is focusing on is the age limit that requires you to play basketball for the NBA. The age limit that required you to play was 19 years old before but the NBA would like to push the limit to 20 years old. An alternative for this issue is letting students draft into the NBA immediately after high school. There is a catch though; if they leave the NBA they must attend two years in college to re-join again. Another alternative is paying the student to stay in college longer or qualify the student for a free agent sooner. Obviously time is a factor for the association but re-stocking the league with young talent is appealing. For more information click here. (Kicker14)

He never knew what could happen going to your first game. On a normal day Francisco took his kids to a soccer game. "I was impress the way that the teams played," said Francisco. That day was the life change for him. As he and his two sons felt in love of the sport.
This is how a person got interested in soccer by just going to a game.

Tucked away in North-west Austin, dwarfed by the looming Wal-mart nearby, lies a humble storefront. At first glance, the eternal loop forming an O sticks out immediately from the simple and blandly colored sign reading: Play It Again Sports. The windows are crowded with lacrosse sticks and stickers of any color imaginable. Upon entering, the simplicity of the storefront vanishes. A meager path shaped by worn treadmills leads into the depths of the store. There is something in every available spot of wall and floor. Once the overwhelming sense while entering vanishes, order becomes clear. Bats over here, Frisbees over there, on and on and on. With some items it seems as though they have been through everything, some seem to not have been through enough. Some gleam and shine with newness that sticks out among the rows and rows of merchandise. The smell of worn leather and hard work pervades.
Play It Again Sports, while it is a large chain of stores, is actually become a very local store due to an interesting business idea they have. “Random people come in and sell or give us old stuff that we turn around and sell,” says Brad, an employee at the Anderson Lane location.

Chiefs Quarterback Injured
Chief's quarterback Matt Cassel has had surgery on his injured throwing hand and Coach Todd Haley still hopes that he will be back this season. Matt injured his right hand on Sunday when the Chief's lost to Denver by a score of 17-10. The former Pro-Bowl had surgery Monday evening to repair what Haley called a ''significant'' injury. Haley said Wednesday he doesn't know when Cassel will be able to return. The team has not placed him on injured reserve, which means he could return this season. Haley said much of that depend on how Cassel recovers this week. The Chief's play Monday night at New England, giving backup Tyler Palka a little more time to prepare. Rookie Ricky Stanzi will be the backup. So far the Chief's has had an average start with four wins and five losses, their hoping they can bring the win when they’re in New England. The Chiefs have to make a comeback when they play the Patriots this Sunday if they want to make it to the playoffs. Right now the Chiefs are ranked 21th in the NFL, higher than last year. Chiefs have to give it their best in the rest of the games in the season if they want to do as good as they did last year or even better. For more information click here. (Kicker14)

Carrier Classic 2011
Friday the 11th was marked as the 2011 Carrier Classic, played between the North Carolina Tar Heels and Michigan State Spartans. Why do they call it the Carrier classic? Good question, the name comes from the fact that the game was played on the flight deck of the USS Carl Vinson. This was the first NCAA game to ever be played on the flight deck of an active aircraft carrier. The USS Carl Vinson saw multiple tours in the Gulf War and in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. It is a nuclear powered vessel and is over 1000 feet long. Also, President Obama was present at the game and gave a speech about veterans day (the purpose for the location of the game and the game itself). The game went well for the #1 ranked Tar Heels in their beating the un-ranked Spartans 67-55. With Harrison Barnes and John Henson scoring 17 and 12 points respectively, the Tar Heels had an easy road to victory, which was challenged a bit by Michigan State's Draymond Green with a career high 18 rebounds. It was a memorable experience for all who watched and both coaches really made it sound like this was going to become a tradition in years to come.
