Red Sox Hire New Manager

The Boston Red Sox have made a big decision for the future of the ball club recently. After a surprisingly poor season (considering the Sox had a total of 15 All-Stars), the team had to sit out the 2011 post season to the dismay of the club. How do we know the club wasn't happy about the season? Simple, they fired their head manager. After working with the club for seven years, Terry Francona was fired as the manager for the Red Sox and, as of this week, was replaced by Bobby Valentine. Valentine was an interesting choice for manager because he hasn't managed a team since 2002. However, he has a very extensive resume. He played in the MLB and got his first managing job in 1985. He has held multiple MLB positions since then, and has now signed a two year contract with another two years optional. It is thought that he was hired to the team to help run the club more strictly than previously done. Now that he has been announced as the new manager, he has only 80 days to prepare for spring training to begin for his new team.
